It has been a busy week for me – over to the Isle of Man to launch our CIPD Advanced Award in Employment Law with Claire Singleton from asb law.
To ensure we had a good Isle of Man flavour we are grateful to Julie Bradley from Manx Industrial Relations Service. Julie came in to explain the subtle differences between UK and Manx employment law. As many of our Manx candidates work in a multi jurisdiction setting this went down well.
We are supplementing our usual approach to the CIPD Award with five workshops which will rotate so this means new candidates can join at any time. Another example of our flexible approach!
So from the Isle of Man via Manchester to Guernsey – why?
One of our lovely candidates from way back asked us to help create a coaching culture within Sovereign. The benefits of such an approach were highlighted in the 2011 ILM Report. Senior managers and Board members were involved in defining how coaching could work in Sovereign Trust – they were also trained to coach. All employees were consulted about coaching and contributed to the way coaching would be implemented.
Now for the good news, I am going to the celebration event this evening – Sovereign Trust has become an Investor in People Gold organisation http://www.investorsinpeople.co.uk/accreditation/whos-accredited/latest-accreditations/sovereign-trust-channels-islands-ltd
This got me thinking about the number of our clients who are in this exclusive club – in Gibraltar Bassedone, in the Isle of Man – the Government Office for HR, in Sussex – Welland Medical, BCW now Arvato Financial Solutions – who have we missed? Do let us know by eMailing us on develop@www.cullenscholefield.com
I said it was a busy week – we are celebrating the success of our candidates on Friday and we are delighted that Peter Cheese, CIPD Chief Executive will be with us. I know that our candidates who are able to attend will feel that the day is even more special! Guess what, CIPD is also an IiP Gold organisation… Our lovely team will be with our candidates and it is with great regret that I will not be there as I will be saying farewell to

A client, my mentor, our Company Secretary and most importantly a close personal friend who was always there for me. I am lucky that my last memory of Mike is a naughty 5 hour lunch when we discussed our businesses at the great Ginger Fox in Albourne on my birthday this year.
His amazing vision, soaring intellect and sense of fun will be greatly missed.
Hi Maureen, I am so very sad to hear the news about Mike, what a lovely man and I am sure you will miss him terribly. My thoughts are with you Janine
Hi Janine
Thanks for your message, it is so tragic. Hope you are well, let’s try to get together before or after Christmas.
Kind regards
Maureen
