Hello it’s Eleanor here again! I am back from my wonderful holiday in Croatia and in a sparkling mood as I seem to have brought the sun back with me. So you’re welcome!
Being in a good mood really opens your eyes to all the positive things around you so I plan on sharing my good mood around. As you know thinking happy makes you happy so let me set the mood…
First of all let’s talk about the weather. I am British after all, it can’t be ignored. There is apparently going to be a heat wave this weekend and I am thrilled. Not only are we being blessed with a proper summer, the good weather is going to fall on the weekend and not during the week so that we resent our work and offices for keeping us from the glorious sun. We are going to get to enjoy the weather for once! I plan on spending the weekend outside just to make the most of it. What are you planning on doing?
On a more professional note, unemployment rates in the UK have dropped again. In the past three months, UK unemployment figures have dropped by 121,000 to 2.12 million. This is the lowest unemployment rate the UK has seen in 6 years. These latest records show that 4.5 million people are self-employed which is the highest this figure has been since 1992. It seems more and more people are taking the initiative to pursue new innovative ideas and ventures. Innovation is key to Cullen Scholefield’s values and we are sponsoring the award for innovation at the Business Matters Awards. We’ll be celebrating innovative companies and individuals next Friday night at a swanky black tie do, another thing to look forward to!
You may have heard enough about the Cabinet reshuffle already – we’re just going to focus on the good bits. What made me smile at first were the reactions on Twitter from teachers to the news that Michael Gove will no longer be Education Secretary. There were reports of dancing in the staff rooms and last minute champagne purchases. I’m just imagining all of my old teachers breaking out in spontaneous celebratory song and dance…
As talent admirers though, what thrilled us at Cullen Scholefield was the fact that the Government was recognising talent within their ranks and utilising it. Becoming a talent magnet was the topic of our last round of Circle of Peers and one of the 6 As of becoming a talent magnet was Advance – recognising talent within the organisation and providing means of advancement. There are many great companies out there who do this well and many who are getting on board, so it’s great to see the Government providing a stellar example.
Finally, we’re feeling all positive about summer here and how it provides excellent opportunities for team building in companies. Everyone just seems to want to have a good time when it is sunny and this doesn’t stop when you’re in the nine to five. This evening we will be joining the Haywards Heath and District Business Association for Pimms and Petanque which is sure to put us all in a good mood and get us excited about the weekend and you never know what talent might emerge from such an evening… Always keep your eyes open!
I hope you’re feeling the positive vibes now, let us know what has put you in a good mood in the comments!
